![]() Game mechanics: Like a well-selected orchestra! Initially I thought that some elements I've seen in the trailer are misplaced and that I won't use them. Again, mature and non-trivial! AI: A little bit short-sighted and quickly dropping the hunt for you if you manage to run away after being detected but aside from it. Story/world: Mature fantasy world with interesting, original twists. I've never seen a serious clipping or obstruction problems with it. After few hours I'm looking like a Quasimodo returning from a ballet lessons! Good camera movement BTW. People complaining about it are usually accustomed to Assassin's Creed type of aids or plainly didn't grasp the introductory tutorial of Styx. Controls: Smooth, precise, no automation allowing a great deal of freedom of movement. No nursing, lots of freedom, outstanding level (or should I say - world) and sound design, solid graphics*. ![]() With only little imperfections here and there it's an unforgetable ride. No nursing, lots of freedom, Finally a revive of the stealth genre. Capturing at least 80% of the playfield will end the level - bonuses are awarded for more higher levels feature faster action, more worms, multiple Styx (Stygii?), and generally nastier enemy behavior. Finally a revive of the stealth genre. Other ways to get yourself killed are standing still for too long (while building), and meeting the worm that crawls along the edges of your domain. The Styx cannot harm you as you travel along the border of your captured areas, but if it touches a wall as you build it, the wall goes down - along with you. ![]() Unlike QIX, you can draw both straight and diagonal walls another difference is the scoring, which depends on a cycling multiplier: time your conquests right, and you may even increase your bonus tenfold. The chief obstacle is the colorful Styx, which (fittingly) resembles a bundle of sticks, and prowls about the screen in unpredictable swirls of motion. A variation on QIX: claim the playfield by building walls and closing off smaller regions. ![]()
